Proper watering techniques

Proper watering techniques for plant service are critical to healthy, productive plants. The amount of water you need to give depends on the type of plant you're watering, the weather and the location. But the wrong approach can harm your plants' root system, and cause a host of other problems.

To properly water your plants, be sure to thoroughly distribute the water across their entire root zone. It's also important to remember to avoid watering over the leaves. Water on the leaves can lead to mold, and can cause the leaves to dry out.

If you're not sure how much to water your plant, start by checking the top two or three inches of the soil. Using your finger, feel for moisture. You can do this every six to twelve hours, if necessary.
